During this exhilarating activity, you'll discover what's beneath your feet as you explore underground caves and caverns.
The dripstone formations are especially noteworthy for their irregular and mysterious shapes. Go on a guided excursion and learn about the cave's formations over millions of years, first by subterranean rivers and then by erosion from dripping rainwater.
You will find yourself climbing underground waterfalls, sliding through mud or passing through different passages. Walk or crawl.
The cave systems of the Arrábida Natural Park are the perfect place to practice Speleology. Get ready to be amazed by the underground world and the legends and stories lost in time, told by caves and caverns where time seems to stop, day and night merge, and in total darkness, we discover another way of seeing. Explore several overlapping galleries on different levels, such as the Gruta do Médico or where the mountain meets the sea in Lapa Verde, between the picturesque town of Sesimbra and Setúbal, less than an hour's drive from Lisbon.
At Caving, you will start with a safety briefing and an introduction to your Caving guide/instructor and equipment. During this experience, you will explore several underground passages using various climbing and abseiling techniques, equipped with personal protective equipment and always safe, in the company of the first Portuguese speleologist to visit the largest cave in the world (Son Doong).
Hi, my name is Samuel Lopes - explorer since a young age - passionate about nature and adventure sports.
Lover of the big spaces, I go through our planet's water, land and air, searching for the wonders it has to offer. I go diving in the Coral Triangle of the Indo-Pacific, climbing down to the world's biggest cave, "Son Doong" in Vietnam, or make the traverse of the Himalayas in para-alpinism.
Above all, I love to share this passion with all those who love nature and sports as I do. As an instructor of alpinism, paragliding, scuba diving, and caving and rafting team leader, I want to share this vast knowledge and offer unique experiences, increasing the well-being and self-esteem of those who have the same desire to do these sports. Refrain from holding your curiosity and exploring the different ways of enjoying the best nature has to give you!
