About the experience

Experience Duration : 2 hrs 30 mins
Experience Summary:

Join me for an inspiring 2,5-hour long art tour around the city of Edinburgh. I designed this unique experience being driven to introduce you to the creative personality of the Scottish capital that in a way hidden to be discovered when the time is right.

Detailed description:

What will we do?

We will visit a couple of authentic locations including my favorite smaller art galleries and art venues to get immersed in the world of local contemporary art. Not only that I am going to take you on a journey around the creative gems of Edinburgh but I will also be able to share real stories, moments, and anecdotes about life as an artist in Scotland. All you need is an open mind and appreciation of contemporary art and culture.

We will also stop over in between locations at one of the best Edinburgh artisan coffee places to enjoy a cuppa of your preferred drink (mine is an excellently brewed flat white, for example, that I am very picky about:). This will allow us to discuss what we experienced on the day.

At the end of our tour, you will be optionally invited to visit an outstanding Arthur Conan Doyle Art and Spirituality Centre at the West End of Edinburgh. I have my studio space there so will be able to take you around and briefly introduce you to my own art practice behind the scene.

What is included?

  • A beautifully brewed cup of coffee of your choice
  • Tram/bus ticket if we need to travel
  • Entrance tickets if we need to pay for a particular show.

About the host

I am a visual artist, researcher, and creative educator driven by a passion for community well-being. Linking both my background in Behavioural Science and Contemporary Art Practice, I express my own emotional realities while exploring the limits that people have to create better everyday lives. I work across notions of time, memory, materiality, decay, and connection with a range of media including found materials, installation, photography, painting, printmaking, and moving image.

I regularly lead creative projects for displaced and struggling communities across Scotland. I strongly believe in art as a powerful tool that we can use to drive social change, rebuild trust, and infuse optimism into our ordinary lives. I worked in partnerships with organisations including Edinburgh Ukrainian Community Centre, Art in Healthcare, Scottish National Galleries, Edinburgh Royal Lyceum Theatre, Volunteer Edinburgh, and Life with Art to bring numerous community art projects to life.

I also facilitate bespoke creative experiences for individuals to help them to discover their creative voices, empower them for changes, and support challenging transitions in life. Last, but not least, I am a creative mentor for emerging artists.

Places we'll visit

I have a range of art places in Edinburgh where I regularly get my own inspiration. Typical routes that I take participants to explore are around New Town, West End, or Leith. I will select which ones to visit on the day based on a few factors such as the weather, trending shows, and themes that might occur once we meet. I do not pretend to show you places that you won't be able to find yourself but I personally find curated art tours more meaningful since they can help you relax while diving deeper without being overwhelmed. All the venues where I am going to take you are warm welcoming and inclusive spaces for all regardless of background or previous experiences
