About the host

Hello! I’m Charlie: an ex-professional team GB tennis player. After my career came to its natural end in the early 90s, I decided to turn my passion for the sport into teaching it! I’ve had over forty years experience in the tennis world and thrive upon sharing it with anyone interested in the game, no matter their expertise.

I’ve always loved tennis with Wimbledon having a special place in my heart. From a very young age I remember my family and I watching The Championships along with the rest of the country each year. I started playing tennis aged six and was scouted by a tennis coach to join the junior GB team at aged eleven. As a young teenager, tennis became my whole focus, training almost five days a week. From then I progressed to competing locally, then nationally and soon after internationally.

Tennis is not only a fantastic sport but a great way to keep fit and test your levels of discipline - no matter your age. This experience is created with the hope that the inspiration of Wimbledon and its phenomenal heritage can ignite passion for the game in anyone who joins. I’m excited to pick up a racket with you all!
